Swedish technology scaleup Fever Energy has built a platform that does exactly that. Now Vattenfall Decentral Energy Solutions Nordic, one of Europe's largest energy companies, has built its new smart steering service for batteries on it.
Fever Energy does not sell to households. It provides the technology layer that energy companies build their own flexibility services on, under their own brand. Vattenfall Decentral Energy Solutions Nordic, a unit within Customers & Solutions at Vattenfall, has now connected its new smart steering service, Nätverka Batteri, to Fever Energy's platform, which automatically optimizes the value of households' solar panels, batteries and electric vehicles while strengthening the electricity system.

How it works
Fever Energy's platform manages this coordination automatically and seamlessly. A household's battery, electric vehicle and solar panels are optimized at the same time, both for the household's own consumption and for participation in the electricity market, including ancillary services that grid operators pay for. Managing both sides of the meter simultaneously, rather than sequentially, generates up to three times as much value per installation. As the platform connects both modern and older assets, via the cloud and through its own hardware, a far larger share of customers' existing equipment can take part.
When thousands of home batteries, solar panels and electric vehicles are coordinated through the platform, the result is effectively a distributed power plant: new, flexible capacity without utilities having to invest in new power stations or power lines. In Sweden alone there are around 800,000 electric vehicles, 287,000 rooftop solar installations and more than 80,000 home batteries — assets that make little difference on their own, but become a sizeable resource for the grid once coordinated. The same pattern is emerging across Europe, which is why Fever Energy frames distributed flexibility as a question of energy resilience, not only household economics.
